A Home In Haiti features 11 songs by Floating Records best artists, highlighting the finest
local music in Marin County and beyond...From country-rock Americana from Calafia, to alternative
rock from Acacia Collective, to the surf-guitar twang of Treble Makers, A Home in Haiti is a
modern musical roadmap. Also with new unreleased tracks from local favorites Fiver Brown and
The Good Sinners, and Tracy Blackman, A Home In Haiti is a treat for the ears and good for
the soul. 100% of all proceeds from the CD are going to build a new children’s community center in
Jacmel, Haiti, still recovering from the January 2010 earthquake. Our good friend Lisa Rueff, and her
Collective Hearts Yoga’s “Collective Hearts for Haiti” project, are working tirelessly to make this
dream a reality for the children of Jacmel. We are pleased and proud to be working with them on
this effort.
Please check out the links and video below for more information on Jacmel Children's Center,

Press Play: Good local music for a good cause

Floating Records "A Home in Haiti"
Fifteen local musicians and bands on Floating Records, an independent label based in Sausalito's
houseboat community, are featured on this sampler CD, a benefit for an orphanage in earthquake-
ravaged Haiti.
This is an eclectic mix that features unreleased tracks from the popular Sausalito favorite Fiver
Brown and the Good Sinners, Marin singer-songwriter Tracy Blackman and Lord Rifa, whose
"Black Waltz" is a fascinating miasma of acoustic sounds.
The rest are previously released album cuts, including songs from alt-rockers Acacia, the country
band Calafia, the reverb-heavy surf group Treble Makers and the Floating Records Orchestra,
performing the title track from the album "Gringoville."
Eric Schoenberg, whose Tiburon guitar shop is renowned for its vintage guitars and intimate
concerts, contributes a gem with "Downtown Blues," a fingerpicked acoustic guitar improvisation
from his solo album "Manhattan 1987."
Boulder, Colo., singer-songwriter Pete Kartsounes, a label newcomer, introduces himself to a Bay
Area audience with the haunting ballad "Sweet Surrender" from his album "The Only Way I Know."
The CD benefits Haiti's Jacmal Children's Center. Good music for a good cause.

Scenes from Jacmel, Haiti
|
Floating Records, in conjunction with Collective Hearts Yoga, proudly held an
All-Star Benefit Concert for the CD Release of its new compilation, A Home In Haiti.
Featuring Floating Records artists:
The benefit was held at Sausalito Seahorse on Friday June 3, 2011, at 8pm. All proceeds from the
CD donation went to the Jacmel Childrens Center project in Jacmel, Haiti, through our partner
Collective Hearts Yoga's "Collective Hearts for Haiti" Project.
Here's a few words from Sam Flot, The Voice of Floating Records, on the benefit:
Our All-Star Benefit Concert last Friday night at the Sausalito Seahorse was an amazing success.
We raised over two thousand dollars for the Jacmel Children's Center in Haiti! Lisa Rueff and her
husband Phillip are beginning construction this month on the center, which will dramatically improve
the lives of the many orphans in Jacmel.
On a musical note, what a great, fun show! The show opened with the prodigy Matt Jaffe performing
solo, who blew us away with his talent and intensity. He was followed by our friends in Calafia, who
got the whole place up and dancing to their alternative western boogie woogie blues.
Acacia then took the stage and took the whole room up a notch with a rousing set of powerful,
melodic rock, featuring some new tunes from their forthcoming album produced by Tim Bluhm. Last
but certainly not least, Fiver Brown and The Good Sinners brought the hammer down with a
powerhouse set of originals & classics that rocked the Seahorse to its foundations - leaving the
dancing crowd smiling and exhausted.
We at Floating Records want to thank all of you who made this benefit possible - Lisa Rueff, Phillip,
Mauro, Matt Jaffe, Calafia, Acacia, Fiver Brown and The Good Sinners, our top notch door team, the
bar staff, the crew at Floating Records, but most of all we want to Thank YOU, the fans and friends
who come to our shows, listen to our music, and dance to our songs. The children of Jacmel and
Floating Records express to you our deepest gratitude and appreciation.
Thanks again for helping Floating Records build A Home In Haiti.
Check out some videos and photos from the benefit below. If you have any pictures and video from the
benefit to share, send them to samflot@floatingrecords.com and we'll post them here and on Facebook.
