Snake Plissken Quintet is a San Francisco based band featuring a high energy set of funk groove jazz. SPQ brings elements of Funk, Soul, Rock, and Jazz together for their own unique San Francisco Sound. Whether playing original music or creating cool new versions of songs by their favorite artists they keep the energy high and the vibe fun.
Guitarist Matt Lazarus and Bassist Tom Gears formed the group as a trio in 2003 and quickly expanded the format to include Sax and Keys. In December 2008 they found the perfect union of players with Mike Myers on Sax, Ari Margolis on Keys, and TJ Murphy on Drums.
Their live show is where they really shine so make a point to go see a show when they come to your town.

Forging a straight ahead funk, rock, and jam sound with the smoky flavors of Hancock, the Meters, Santana, Galactic, they've been separating butts from seats at venues all over San Francisco.
